Named after Sir M. Visvesvaraya, the engineer behind the Krishnaraja Sagar dam, this museum has four floors covering electrotechnology, engines, popular science and space technology, most of it interactive rather than glass-cased. The 3D and 4D theatre shows run on a schedule through the day and are worth timing your visit around if you're bringing kids.
It's dated in places — some exhibits clearly haven't been refreshed in years — but the hands-on physics demonstrations on the ground floor still land well with children, and the space technology section added in recent years covers ISRO's satellite and Mars missions.
Highlights
- Hands-on physics and electrotechnology exhibits
- 3D/4D theatre with scheduled shows through the day
- ISRO satellite and Mars mission gallery
- Vintage engines and machinery hall
Good to know
- Check the 3D theatre show timings at the entrance counter and plan around them
- Ground floor hands-on exhibits get the most wear from school groups — weekday visits avoid the rush
- Pair with Cubbon Park, which is directly across the road
