Muthyala Maduvu (Pearl Valley)
Anekal Taluk, Bengaluru Rural
- Time needed
- Half day
- Distance
- 40 km away
- Entry
- ₹15 per person
- Best time
- Aug – Dec, after monsoon rains
Pearl Valley gets its name from the way the water breaks into fine, pearl-like droplets as it falls through the narrow rock gap here, though the flow is entirely seasonal and can reduce to a trickle outside the post-monsoon months. A set of stone steps leads down into a small cave passage where the stream runs through.
It's a modest sight compared to the Shivanasamudra falls further out, but its proximity to the city — under an hour and a half — makes it a reasonable half-day option when you don't want to commit to a full day trip. Combine it with the nearby Anekal town for lunch.
Highlights
- Seasonal waterfall through a narrow rock cleft
- Stone steps down into a small cave stream passage
- Short, easy walk from the parking area
- Close enough for a half-day round trip
Good to know
- Check recent rainfall before going — outside Aug–Dec the falls can be disappointingly dry
- Steps down to the cave get slippery when wet — good grip shoes matter more than they look like they would
- Pair with a stop in Anekal town rather than treating this as a full day out
