This is a genuinely underrated stop for anyone with even mild interest in aviation. Retired fighter jets including a MiG-21 and a Gnat sit on outdoor display, and a flight simulator lets visitors try a short mock flight for an extra fee. The indoor gallery covers the history of Indian aviation from HAL's founding in 1940 through to the Tejas programme.
It's run by Hindustan Aeronautics itself rather than a tourism department, which shows in the technical depth of the placards — more engineering detail than most casual visitors expect, which aviation-curious kids in particular tend to enjoy.
Highlights
- Retired MiG-21 and Gnat fighter jets on outdoor display
- Flight simulator experience (separately ticketed)
- History gallery on HAL and Indian aviation since 1940
- Scale models of the Tejas and other HAL aircraft
Good to know
- Closed on Mondays — check before planning a trip specifically for this
- The simulator queue is short on weekday afternoons, long on weekend mornings
- Combine with a Marathahalli lunch stop since there's little food nearby the museum itself
